1. Housecalls
Design Help for Small Jobs & Aspiring Designers
Whether you’re looking to spruce up your space, need design advice to tackle a specific task, or are in the midst of a big project and need a sounding board to bounce ideas off of, we’re the design therapists you’ve been looking for. Let us bring fresh eyes and expertise to your project so you can move forward confidently and mindfully.
House calls are virtual design consultations and best suited for smaller jobs. I think of them as projects that can be done in 10 hours or less. Some examples that fit the bill: sourcing furniture and fixtures, creating a vision for a room or space, exploring wall finishes and paint colors, gaining fresh perspective on a project that’s troubling you, managing design fatigue, etc.
DETAILS
Feeling out a space is such an important part of our design process. Since we can’t be there in person, anything you can send ahead of time to mentally get us into your project is a huge help. Some clear images of your space along with a few sentences describing your project and what sort of design help you’re looking for goes a long way.
PRICING
House call rates are $500 for an introductory virtual call and $250 per hour for any resulting design work. Your sign up deposit covers call prep and our first call. Additional hours will be billed separately. Every project is unique and unfolds in its own way, and we will work together to figure out the best way to move forward after the initial call.
2. THE PERFECT PINK: COLOR WORKSHOP
Experimenting with Pigments & Tinted Plaster
Creating the custom color formulas for our plaster work is another big part of the process, and one we’re happy to spend some time digging into. Spend the afternoon with us as we experiment with pigments, work up some new color formulas, and create small plaster samples. One of the formulas will be what we use to plaster during the two following Plaster 101 workshops!
This course is open to everyone, but will be more useful if you’ve taken or plan on taking our Plaster 101 course as well. It’s a great class if you are interested in pigments, are looking to tint your own plaster, or are craving some chill ASMR vibes.
We’ll send out (optional) course materials for those who want to experiment along with us, so sign up early if you plan on participating. A video recording will be available for download to all students after the class. The plaster needs to dry overnight, so we’ll be sure to share the results with everyone the next day.
3. PLASTER 101: Fundamentals
Our Plastering Process from Start to Finish
Students will watch and Q+A with us as we plaster a wall over the course of an afternoon. Topics will include tools and materials, surface preparation, tinting with pigments (covered more fully in October 17th’s color workshop), application, smoothing, dry times, and after care. This is a virtual class, and the recorded video will be included as part of your takeaway. All levels welcome.
This course is a pre-requisite for our Plaster 102: Studio Workshop that will be open to a much smaller group of students, to try plastering themselves at home as we virtually guide them through the process.
A Note on Pricing: It’s not an easy time to be running a small business, but we do not want money to be what stops someone from learning to plaster. If you would like to take part in the workshop but truly cannot afford it, please email us. We’ll be reserving a limited number of free spots in each class.
The Fine Print: All prices in USD. All workshops are currently virtual. You’ll receive the Zoom link the day before the workshop. Your signup grants you access to the live workshop on Zoom, as well as a recorded video available for download for 30 days afterwards. Cancellation accepted via email up to 24 hours before the workshop, with full refund initiated from our end within a few business days.
